Corbel, Brackets, Trusses

If you can’t find what you need on here, please remember we can carve or create from scratch. As we so often do. Just like these beauties!

We have just, (well 3 months ago) acquired a further 15 designs of corbel. Some are catalogued below but some are queued up – we’ll put them up here as soon as work allows us to – hopefully during the Christmas holiday.

Please also note that the dimensions, particularly imperial ones are approximate only. This is to avoid awkward fractions on the page. Please don’t rely on them!

Corbel Nr. 600 - Mid Victorian

Maximum Width 7 inches, 180mm.

Maximum Depth 11 inches, 280mm.

Maximum Projection 3.5 inches, 90mm.

Victorian in style. This was our first production / standard corbel, possibly in 1980? Whoever first produced these in (say?) 1885? They really must have sold a great many – because we’ve sold very many to match them in the past 30 years.

Corbel Nr. 601 - Small Victorian

Maximum Width 8 inches, 210mm.

Maximum Depth 5.5 inches, 145mm.

Maximum Projection 2 inches, 53mm.

Victorian in Style. This was also one of our first production / standard corbels, a little later than 1980 – but not by much.

Corbel Nr. 602 - Twickenham

Maximum Width 4.3 inches, 110mm.

Maximum Depth 22 inches. 550mm.

Maximum Projection 1.75 inches. 40mm.

Style and period uncertain.

So named because this design was acquired during a film production at Twickenham Film Studios in 1984. This one has more dialogue attached solely because it’s a long narrow design and I’m trying to fill this side with text to make this page look balanced and pretty!

Corbel Nr. 603 - Bahrain

Corbel Nr. 603, Style "Bahrain"

Maximum Width 12 inches, 300mm.

Maximum Depth 14 inches. 350mm.

Maximum Projection 5.5 inches. 140mm.

Style and period uncertain.

Corbel Nr. 604 - Leaf

Maximum Width 3.5 inches, 90mm.

Maximum Depth 8 inches, 200mm.

Maximum Projection 2 inches, 45mm.

Unknown / imprecise architectural period.

The topmost member of this pattern is often removed – only if you want it so. It was originally carved at Twickenham Film Studios in 1984 by Arthur – a very expert sculptor.

Corbel Nr. 605 - Arrowhead

Maximum Width 8 inches, 205mm.

Maximum Depth 7.5 inches, 190mm.

Maximum Projection 5 inches, 125mm.

As with all our large range of corbels, brackets and trusses, these can be cast in fibrous plaster, sand and cement, GRG, GRP or GRC.

Corbel Nr. 606 - Grotesque

Maximum Width 13 inches, 335mm.

Maximum Depth 13 inches, 320mm.

Maximum Projection 6 inches, 155mm.

This name was actually a “typo” or “misprig”. It was to be called “Rococo” but I wrote the showroom label out as “Grotesque” – so it stays now, I’m not altering price lists, this web page and everything else now.

Corbel Nr. 607 - Large Scroll

Maximum Width 9 inches, 230mm.

Maximum Depth 11 inches, 330mm.

Maximum Projection 5 inches, 130mm.

A fairly large corbel design. I’m not sure anymore where this one came from, but it’s certainly a good, well-balanced design. I recall we acquired it from a bankrupt company in approximately 1990.

Corbel Nr. 608 - Fan

Maximum Width 7 inches, 185mm.

Maximum Depth 10 inches, 250mm,

Maximum Projection 3 inches, 75mm,
No idea how this one came into our hands. I recall buying it at bankrupt company auction during / around 1995.

Corbel Nr. 609 - Walton

Maximum Width 8 inches, 195mm.

Maximum Depth 11 inches, 270mm.

Maximum Projection 4.5 inches, 110mm.

This design we’ve produced for many years now. Perhaps we produced it especially to a private client’s own design – I believe we did.

Corbel Nr. 610 - Grand Central

Maximum Width 9 inches, 220mm.

Maximum Depth 7 inches, 170mm.

Maximum Projection 3.7 inches, 90mm.

Corbel Nr. 611, "Small Scroll"

Maximum Depth 13 inches, 320mm.

Maximum Projection 5 inches, 130mm.

Any of these many designs can be cast in GRG, GRP, Fibrous Plaster, Sand, and Cement or GRC.
This is a fairly typical/modern design. Origin unknown by me, but quite a nice design.

Corbel Nr. 612, "Large Victorian"

Maximum Width 14 inches, 360mm.

Maximum Depth 15 inches, 380mm.

Maximum Projection 5.5 inches, 135mm.

Please note, a production mould might not exist for this corbel design, therefore it could be subject to a special quotation for mouldmaking.

Corbel Nr. 613. "Small Wedgwood"

Maximum Width 7 inches, 175mm.

Maximum Depth 7.5 inches, 185mm.

Maximum Projection 3.5 inches, 90mm.

These were specially created for the Wedgwood Museum in Barlaston, Staffordshire. Sadly earlier this year the company entered administration. Naturally we wish these one time “cutting edge” innovators and pioneering drivers of our industrialisation our very, very best wishes for their future and their future commercial health. However it seems just in May 2009 a sale was concluded that appears to secure their future, I certainly hope so.

Maximum Depth 8.5 inches, 215mm.

Maximum Projection 4 inches, 100mm.

Corbel Nr. 617, "Large Leaf"

Maximum Width 12 inches, 310mm.

Maximum Depth 16 inches, 390mm.

Maximum Projection 8 inches, 190mm.

Please also note that we “haven’t seen” the production mould for this corbel design for some time. Therefore a special cost will possibly apply to this item.
